Welcome to Lake City, a historic town tucked into
a valley in the San Juan Mountains of southwest
Colorado.  Our elevation is 8671 feet, and we enjoy
over 300 days of sunshine every year. Annually,
we average about 80 inches of snowfall in town,
with hundreds of inches of snow in the high
country around us. Winter daytime temperatures
average in the 30’s.

Services
During the winter, Lake City is a serene, peaceful,
and beautiful place.  Even though it is quiet, it is not
a winter ghost town.  We have several restaurants
and lodging facilities, three gas stations, a grocery
store, a history museum, arts council, movie
theatre, retail stores, a tavern, coffee shop and
recreation department.  We have skilled staff at our
medical center, plus well-trained search and rescue
and EMS technicians.  High speed internet access
is available at our public library and at local
businesses.
